Editorial Review:
FRESH MANGOSTEENS ARE HERE! An exotic new import from Thailand, Frieda's Fresh Mangosteens are a tropical fruit explosion that melts in your mouth. Inside each Mangosteen's woody dark purple shell are 5 to 7 plump, moist cream-colored sections whose flavor has been described as... "undescribable." "Mangosteens have a taste which nobody can describe any more than he can tell how a canary sings or a violet smells," writes Swedish scientist Eric Mjoberg in the 1800s. Orginating in the Sundra Islands and Moluccas, Mangosteens were first domesticated in the hot humid climates of Thailand and Burma. Due to pest concerns, the USDA prohibited import of fresh Mangosteen until the summer of 2007. Savor Frieda's Fresh Mangosteen by simply holding the fruit with the stem-end down and cut around the fruit's middle or "equator" with a sharp knife. Open the shell and lift each creamy white segment out with a fork. The flavor is a combination of ripe peach, creamy orange, strawberry and citrus. Decorate fruit platters or appetizer trays with the beautiful half open mangosteen fruit cups that will keep your guests talking and asking for more! DUE TO HIGH PERISHABILITY MANGOSTEENS REQUIRE OVERNIGHT DELIVERY. AN ADDITIONAL $10 CHARGE HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE PRICE. Treated with irradiation

Customer Reviews:

mission impossible
The fruit was delicious, but not to be compared with the incredible Mango fruit. After spending fifteen minutes struggling with the indestructable exterior, you are left with only a small amount fruit that has been traumatized by the sawing and digging of your knife. Deffinitly not with the effort. 2008-06-16
