At least one reviewer (maybe it was on the larger bottles; I read through those reviews too) seems to think the bubbles rising through the milk as the baby eats the milk is a bad sign. They apparently didn't go through any physics classes on their way to their G.E.D. If there weren't bubbles then a vacuum would develop behind the milk making it harder and harder to suck the milk out. So the bubbles are entirely necessary to equalize the pressure inside the bottle with the outside.
We plan to buy the larger bottles when he gets older and I might change my opinion then, based on what I'm seeing in the reviews about the nipples that allow more flow. But for our newborn, these bottles have been great.

Also, regarding the review that stated that the bottles "morphed into blobs", she MUST have been doing SOMETHING wrong as far as the microwave sterilization is concerned (?maybe not adding water), because that definitely does NOT happen! (Best bet is to use the Born Free microwave sterilizer.) Also, as far as customer service, I also had a good experience - I had e-mailed them requesting instructions for the sterilizer, and received a very quick response!
Overall, an EXCELLENT product, WELL WORTH THE $$$!

I don't think the one extra valve piece is really that big of a deal - they're still less complicated than Dr. Brown's! I haven't had any leaking problems or melting problems (even in the dishwasher). I did have one crack when my daughter dropped it on a tile floor. I was lucky enough to be able to exchange it, but I would like them to be a little more sturdy -- especially now that my daughter is old enough to throw things she doesn't want! :)
Overall, I'm happy I made the decision to switch, and they've worked fine for our family. But $8-$10 a bottle? Seriously?

Great bottles
Our 3-month-old has been using these bottles since he was one month old. The bottles don't leak at all and they don't cause gas. I can only guess that the ones who had leaking problems don't know how to screw a bottle cap on.

If your baby sucks too hard and coughs and gags......
My newborn has a voracious appetite, and would suck so hard that she would end up coughing and gagging at every feeding! It got to the point that I was nervous every time I fed her! Then I realized that she only did that with the Medela nipples (I had bought both the Medela nipples, which I had placed on Evenflo glass bottles, as well as the BornFree bottles in order to have several options). As soon as I went back to the BornFree bottles, even though she continued to suck hard, she no longer coughed and gagged!! SO IF YOUR BABY COUGHS AND GAGS WITH FEEDINGS, GET THESE! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

love them!
i love my born free bottles! i had dr browns before because of the gassiness, but when i found out these were BPA free and Dr Browns didnt have any at the time, i made the switch. When i wrote DR Browns a letter they basically told me that the BPA thing was overblown and had no backing to it. Then why are you making bpa-free bottles now? Anyway my baby has been less gassy since we switched to these and i like that i am doing something good for him. Also they are easier to clean than the Dr. Browns. They always had an orange residue left on the vent. Never had that problem with these bottles. They are worth the $$. He loves to hold them himself too, even though they are wider, he is getting the hang of it, although mommy still holds onto the ends to keep it straight! 2008-08-21

Awesome customer service, Great product
I rarely write reviews but I had to comment on the fantastic customer service I received from Born Free. Like a lot of mothers, I recently switched from Avent to this BPA-free line of bottles by Born Free. I purchased 3 x 3 packs from a bricks and mortar retailer. The packets contained one venting system and a coupon for two more. The retailer was out of them and I am leaving for a trip at the end of the week. I emailed Born Free customer service. 48 hours later I am holding the vents in my hand, they also sent me some nipples, they overnighted everything (at their expense) so I could have them in time for my trip. I didn't know customer service like this existed any more. Overall, I am delighted with the product- fewer leaks than Avent, no concern about plastics, and my one year old took to the bottles like a duck to water. Highly recommended. 2008-08-13

Not too bad!
I traded in my Avent bottles for Born Free after the huge BPA news stories. I don't think I would have paid for them if I had to buy them all brand new at once, but since I was getting credit, I decided to try them.
