Not a christian but gotta love it
By no means am I a Christian but instead a certified Wiccan. So to those who know me actually found it surprising that I had this book in my library. Christy is a heroine that you can't help but fall in love with and her story. The young woman has spunk, ambition, intelligence, and above all a good heart. It was hard not to get caught up in Christy's story and as you move through the book and meet the characters it's hard not to care for them as well. From the aged wisdom of Miss Alice, the determination of Mr. Pentland, and of course to the handsome but stubborn country doctor Mr. McNeil. The book promotes wholesomeness and a goodness we rarely see. So please don't hesitate to pick up this book. I'd hate for anyone to miss out. 2008-01-05

a ride in a time machine
Catherine Marshall has written a book that chronicals the growth of Miss Christy Huddleston, her mother, from a very sheltered young girl to a mature and caring woman. She also introduces us to some unforgetible people, looking beyond the dirt and superstitions to help us see a proud and gracious culture with a fine heritage. Enjoy. 2007-12-18

Touching Story
I picked this up because I thought I'd read it as a teenager (I hadn't). It isn't the type of book I usually read, but I became completely engrossed in Christy and the highlanders anyways. I don't belong to the same religion as Christy or any of the other characters for that matter, but I completely related to the quesitonning of self and God.

My Favorite Book
Christy is my favorite book of all time. It's one of those books you can read over and over again and never get board. It's wonderful. 2007-07-20

Christy: An Enjoyable Read
Christy is a heart-warming story of a 19-year old girl who yearns to find fulfillment in life. The book covers approximately a one-year period beginning with Christy leaving her comfortable life for the incredibly challenging task of teaching at a mission school in the Tennessee mountains. While there is romance, I see it more as a (spiritual) coming-of-age book where the events and people lead Christy to find meaning in life and to claim her Christian faith as her own. The book is very well written with interesting characters and thought-provoking situations. I found it hard to put down and highly recommend it! 2007-02-05
