One of my favorite movies- There's hope for this franchise!
AVP:R This film starts directly after Paul W. S. Anderson's yawner AVP. I have to admit when I first saw AVP I absolutly loved it! But after seeing the rest of the Alien and Predator movie series, the action, horror, and flow of them made me look back and say "I watched that disgraceful movie?" Now that AVP:R is out it easily ties with my other two favorite Alien movies: Alien and Aliens. I only give it 4 out of 5 stars because the characters are pretty two-dimensional. The movie starts with the Pred-alien being born, quickly morphing into full size, and killing two Predators. The Predator ship then crashes on Earth, where facehuggers infect a father and his son, who are on a hunting trip. Soon aliens are born, the Pred-alien starts putting aliens into people, and a predator lands on Earth to "clean up" the mess. People start dying, and the town nearby begins to wonder "what's going on here?" There are some pretty gruesome scenes, and this unrated version is not for the faint of heart. It's good for those of you who thought the first AVP was to much on the lighter side of things. For there first film the brothers Strause did a pretty good job! It's another great way to re-imagine this series( there's no lack of imagination!) Highly recommended for all of you Alien/Predator fans! A-

Good movie, Bad viewing quality
I really enjoyed the movie but I was surprised how dark the images were... I tried to change my TV color adjustments but it wasn't my TV. I am not sure if I'm the only one who though that the image quality was not as good as the video previews I saw in the past. It's Too Dark!!
But in general great movie, very entertainning!

A Very Bad Sequel!!!
I saw this on 1-1-08 and I thought it would be cool to start off the year with an AVP movie. I was highly disappointed. Mostly the ending pissed me off with the Government killing all the suvivors in the town and the Aliens and Predators. I was cool that it started where the first one ended, but it's just that ending that really gets me. I remember some goth kids in the theatre laughing when the girl said something like "The Government doesn't lie to people." Don't watch this movie!!!

THE GOVERNMENT RUINED IT!!!

NO!
Have you seen Alien, Aliens and Predator? If so this will look familiar. Bits from these movies and a few bits from some of the lesser sequels are strung together to make an action flick, which whilst having the same creatures lacks any originality. So we get a recreation of 'Newt' from Aliens a Ripley like strong female character and all manor of other rip-offs from the other films in both series. In my view Alien vs Predator (2004) was a decent attempt to keep a franchise alive. Not brilliant but certainly worth watching. This isn't worth watching.

If you haven't seen the original films, or your have only seen Alien vs Predator you will have no understanding of my criticisms. If so go back to the beginning and watch 'Alien' (1979) alone in the dark for one of the scariest horror/Sci-fi films ever made. Then watch 'Aliens' (1986) to see the best war movie in space ever made. Finally watch 'Predator' (1987), which is not in the same class as Alien/Aliens but is still a high class action/Sci-fi movie.

When you have done that you should then watch 'Requiem' and all will be revealed (tripe).

Wow - Excellent Sequel
My family's a fan of the Alien and the Predator movies, and AVP2 was a terrific sequel, full of action, suspensful, and definitely worth watching!

Yes, a lot of the scenes are "dark", but hey - most of the movie takes place at night, and in the rain too, so "DUH!" - of course a lot of the scenes are dark, but we turned the lights off in our living room, and had no problems watching the dvd. Only one short scene was difficult, but only lasted what - 2 seconds? lol

If you're a fan of the Alien or Predator movies, I would definitely check this one out!
