Editorial Review:

Beautiful Princess Giselle is banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn t operate on a happily ever after basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid even though she is already promised to a perfect fairytale prince back home she has to wonder, can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Customer Reviews:

good movie, bad CS...
This really is a pretty good movie, I recommend it. However, I suggest that you buy it from another seller, as I ordered this DVD in April 8 and it is now November 30 and still no delivery. I've sent multiple e-mails, but to no avail. I got 1 reply telling me that I was pretty much SOL. No package, and no refund. I ended up borrowing it from someone who DIDN'T try to order it from these people...

tisk, tisk.

Another Disney Classic
I was told that this movie made fun of every other Disney movie ever made, so when I saw it, I expected to just see it once, for laughs. But it turned out to be a sheer delight to watch and is quickly becoming one of my favorite Disney movies.

The movie has great Disney-classic musical sequences mixed with Broadway dancing. Beautiful Amy Adams, the actress who plays Giselle, displays amazing acting and singing talent. Her expressive face was perfect for the part. Patrick Dempsey did a really good job portraying the cynical, but protective single father.

The only thing I would have excluded from this movie was the scene with Narissa at the end. It was unnecessary, since the rest of the story was wrapped up, but I think perhaps that scene is where people get the idea that it "makes fun" of all the other Disney movies. I still didn't find it sarcastic or satirical toward Disney--just unnecessary.

If you watch the movie and love the musical sequences as much as I did, I recommend you watch the Bonus Feature "Fantasy Comes to Life," where they show the some behind-the-scenes footage of three of the major songs. It's incredible to watch all of New York City's talent come together in one great Disney movie.

Surprisingly Great
I did not go see this in theaters because, to be honest, I thought it looked ridiculous. Now that I have seen it, it was so entertaining! Hilarious with a good hearted plot, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. The singing voices are superb as well. I highly recommend for anyone who also has a light heart and enjoys romantic comedies. Love lives on!

Surprisingly entertaining, goofy fun.
This is a regular guy's review or take on Disney's `Enchanted':
I caught a showing of `Enchanted' (not the Blu-Ray) on Starz HD late one night after I'd just finished watching `The Bourne Ultimatum' (rockin' action flick by the way, great bathroom fight scene.) I'm on here, considering buying this DVD for my niece.

Let me just say up front that `Enchanted' wouldn't normally have been my type of movie; it's a family flick, a musical and a romantic comedy based on fairy tale archetypes---not usually my thing at all. And in fact the script itself is a fairly straightforward fish-out-of-water story about an innocent naïve girl lost in the big city and affects the people she comes in contact with, that is very similar to `Splash!', the 1980's Tom Hanks and Darryl Hannah mermaid movie.

I won't proceed to describe the plot details as others before me and the Amazon caption summary have done it far better than I could have. With that out of the way, `Enchanted' was a lot of fun, witty at times and a joy to watch. With any other cast, this movie would not have been half as good as it is. The actors shoulder what could have been a generic script premise worthy of a made for cable movie on the Disney Channel and elevate the movie above its genre.

Amy Adams is a joy to watch and she steals every scene she's in; I expect this lady to catapult to mega-movie stardom in short order. I defy any other heterosexual guy to resist falling for Adams in this part. She's so adorable, sweet and beautiful in a girl-next-door sort of way as Giselle that you totally buy her as the cartoon princess from a fairy tale world that becomes a real girl, so to speak. And the lady has a set pipes as well; the Central Park musical number reminded me of some of the great bits from `Mary Poppins', Disney's other classic (Julie Andrews was a babe back in her day).

Kudos to credited song-writers Mencken and Schwartz; I challenge anyone to dislodge the movie's catchy songs from their craniums after a viewing.

No small credit also goes to James Marsden; he likewise had a difficult part to play as Prince Edward. He very easily could have played it very formally, read the dialogue and swung the sword about. Marsden makes the Prince such a good-natured buffoon who's a nice enough guy but is overly impressed with himself, that he makes a great foil to Patrick Dempsey's Robert, a divorce attorney. (Marsden was also the same dude who played Lois Lane's boyfriend in `Superman Returns', who I thought who would have made a better Clark Kent/Superman than the guy that did play him who did the Christopher Reeve impression.)

The direction by Kevin Lima is not groundbreaking, but is understated and capable enough where you don't notice all the moving parts of this likely complicated production. I actually prefer this sort of direction to the more pretentious `Hey Ma, look, I'm directin', I'm directin'!' stylistic efforts of other modern filmmakers.

Overall, `Enchanted' is a very good movie that I wouldn't have expected an average action and science-fiction movie loving guy like me to enjoy. In high-definition, the colors in this movie pop as if it were animated during the live-action portion. And, wow, Adams is a beauty in high-def---those big blue-green eyes!

Boring....
I didn't enjoy this movie, it was boring, and I had one laugh, at Susan as an old lady, but boring.
