Gentlemen Prefer French & Saunders

This is my first French & Saunders DVD that I've ever watched or owned. I picked it up by chance when I was buying a series of Absolutely Fabulous, which I became obsessed with last year.

I am young, I watch a lot of BBC America and my knowledge of British slang and comedy styles has grown ten-fold since watching this DVD. It is very easy to understand this DVD from an American perspective b/c it has a lot of familar references like "Gone With the Wind" (FIDDLE DE DEE) and "The Excorcist".

French & Saunders are great comediennes and can turn even the most boring sketch, like the one where Saunders visits the jail into a mildly amusing 5 minutes. The trick is, the more you watch them, the more you understand; see things you may have missed before; and die laughing.

My favorite skit is the Dueling Opera Divas. Dawn French's face as she sings "LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY" tickled me for days. Jennifer, who is my all time favorite actress/comedian makes me giggle with her cool attitude! THE BEST SKIT OF ALL!

---A good buy for anyone who loves Absolutely Fabulous and British television. I can not wait to indulge in my next French & Saunders collection!

This was so funny!!! I love French and Saunders and I am a huge fan of AbFab...... It would probably be a lot funnier if I knew what all they were parodying, but it was still funny!!!

Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are two of the funniest women in British comedy today. (They are the co-writers of the hit show, Absolutely Fabulous!) Their sketch-comedy show, French & Saunders, is rightly considered one of the funniest that the BBC has ever produced. This disk contains some 2 hours and 20 minutes of their hilarious sketches. In it, they parody everything from television experts to home shopping to women's' magazines.

Overall, I found this to be a hilariously funny disk! I watched this with my family, and we all loved it. Is there a funnier French & Saunders video out there? I don't know, but I intend to find out! I love French & Saunders and recommend this DVD to all fans of great Britcom.

"Gentlemen Prefer French and Saunders" is truly the best of the 4 F&S DVD's. I bought the "Set", and what a bargain! I watched the first three DVD's today, and laughed for hours. If you are looking for some silly, yet witty entertainment I suggest these DVD's. I have begun to refer to F&S as "Monty-Pyfemme. A wonderful addition to my growing BBC DVD library! Make sure to watch the bonus sections - usually they are the best parts.

I would recommend this for hard core fans of French and Saunders. It's funny, but it's not as good as At The Movies or Living in a Material World.
