Editorial Review:
This hilarious, crowd-pleasing hit scores big laughs with funnyman Bernie Mac (BAD SANTA, OCEAN'S 11) and Academy Award(R) nominee Angela Bassett (Best Actress, WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT, 1993). The day he got his 3,000th big league hit, Stan Ross (Mac) walked away from the game believing he'd punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame. But 10 years later, Stan becomes baseball's biggest error when it's discovered that three of his hits don't count! Now this over-the-hill former star with an oversized ego decides to make the major league's most outrageous comeback in order to regain his claim to fame! Also featuring Chris Noth (TV's SEX AND THE CITY, CAST AWAY) and Paul Sorvino (THE COOLER, GOODFELLAS) ... catch the laugh-packed comedy that's been a home run with audiences everywhere!

Years later, the stats gods discover that Stan is actually 3 hits short of the coveted goal, and the out-of-shape baseball jock returns to the game to hit just one more and one more and one more. Mac is perfectly cast in his role.
This is a mildly funny, though entirely formulaic film that doesn't really leave much of an aftertaste, except for its probably unintended critique of how utterly mercenary the present-day game of baseball has become. MR. 3000 is worth watching every now and again just to get a die-hard fan's dander up on that account.

man that only cares about himself and what happens when a situation changes things around. Its a baseball movie, but not all the movie is played on the field.
I was surprised and did enjoy this film all the way the the ending credits. I recommend this movie if you like smart comedies and not the ones that goes over the edge.

Mr. 2,997
The late lamented Bernie Mac plays Stan Ross, a Milwaukee Brewer who quits the team midseason after attaining his 3000th hit. Ross retires on the strength of his reputation, marketing himself shamelessly as "Mr. 3000."
Years later, the stats gods discover that Stan is actually 3 hits short of the coveted goal, and the out-of-shape baseball jock returns to the game to hit just one more and one more and one more. Mac is perfectly cast in his role.

Mac hits a single
Bernie Mac plays Stan Ross, a by the books no one is better then me player. The beginning of the film is entertaining, the middle gets boring and cliched, and the ending was a surprise. Overall, I enjoyed this film. I really didnt laugh alot but it was watchable. Id recommend it to people who enjoy baseball films or comedys. 2008-09-11

One-Time-Movie
Bernie Mac is a funny character, however the trailer of this movie was better than the actual movie itself, which is why i would refer to is as a "one-time-movie". 2008-04-19

3.5 for this pleasant movie
What caught my attention for this movie, is thats it pictures a selfish
man that only cares about himself and what happens when a situation changes things around. Its a baseball movie, but not all the movie is played on the field.
I was surprised and did enjoy this film all the way the the ending credits. I recommend this movie if you like smart comedies and not the ones that goes over the edge.

Bernie Mac Is The Saving Grace To What Could Be A Bad Movie
Mr. 3000 is a decent film about a washed up baseball player who needs to prove himself again when he discovers he isn't "Mr. 3000" as he thought he was. The story drags in places but overall isn't that bad. If you come into this film with low expectation, you won't feel so disappointed by the end. I'm not saying that this movie is the worst thing ever. I actually thought it was pretty good, but it just doesn't make for a great movie. Luckily, I wasn't expecting an Oscar winning blockbuster film when I started to watch. Once again, the acting and everything is good, the story is just something that has been seen many times in much better films in the past. 2006-07-14
