Bill Murray has joined the Army and the Army will never be the same! When John Winger (Murray) loses his job his car his apartment and his girlfriend all in one day he decides he only has one option: volunteer for Uncle Sam. He talks his friend Russell (Harold Ramis) into enlisting with him. Where else they figure can they help save the world for democracy and meet girls! John and Russell find basic training a snap: they are arrested twice have endless run-ins with their drill sergeant (Warren Oates) and get into a big mess at a female mud-wrestling match. Is this new DVD worth buying ?

We already have over 100 reviews here of this very entertaining movie.
What we need now is for someone to give a complete description of what has been added to this new UNRATED EXTENDED CUT DVD so we can decide if it is worth it to buy this new version.

Very funny, even though I have watched it like 100 times so far

Perhaps one of the funniest movies ever. Loved it and it is highly recommended. Bill Murray is one of my favorite actors and he's brilliant in this one. John Candy death was definitely a big loss as he was a great actor and acted very well in this movie. You'll like this.

Still one of Murray's funniest

One of the films that helped make Bill Murray one of the most bankable comedy stars is certainly Stripes, and though I have never been one to label it a "classic" per se', the film still remains one of Murray's funniest. Though it hasn't aged as well as one may hope, Stripes features Murray, Harold Ramis, and John Candy moving towards their respective creative peaks, and in those respects alone, Stripes is a triumph of time. I won't delve into the storyline (you either know it by now or can read other reviews here), but this Extended Cut DVD features some extra footage that can be interlaced with the film. Sadly, most of this extra footage doesn't amount to a whole lot, and makes the film run for much longer than it really should. That aside though, Stripes remains one of the funniest films of Bill Murray's career, and the fact that the film is still enjoyable to this day surely amounts for something.

Boom chugalug

PROBABLY the best Bill Murray movie of ALL TIME! A must have for the comedy collector. The extra scenes are neato how they mark them with a star during the movie. Funny Movie!

A Classic to watch over and over

I love to watch this movie when I need to watch something I know I will enjoy, Bill Murry is so talented.
