Boston Acoustics Horizon radios were created to meet the demands of today's design-conscious, music-everywhere oriented consumer. The Horizon Duo-i has an AM / FM radio plus iPod connectivity with a built-in iPod dock that lets users insert their iPod directly into the top of the unit for music enjoyment, control and re-charging. Once connected, users can even control their iPod using the Duo-i's remote control.The stereo Duo-i models feature dual high-performance 3.5-inch full-range speakers, for clean full range performance and room filling sound. Line and stereo headphone outputs add to the convenience and flexibility of all Horizon radios, and all models feature dual independent alarm clocks with sleep timers.
To snooze, you touch the metal rim that runs around the radio - tapping the snooze more than once extends the snooze period by 5 more minutes - eg 3 taps adds 10 minutes to the default 10 minute snooze. How cool is that? When the alarm sounds, it gently increases volume for both music or the tone alarm.

The controls are intuitive and easy to use - including the clock radio. The display can be dimmed quit well and even has a sensor to automatically brighten the display in the light of day. I put electrical tape over the sensor though for constant output as it flickered a little when the ambient light flickered.
The bass and treble are variable, and it has two easily controlled alarms. The minimum bass is pretty substantial though and about as much as I would want, although not uncomfortable. Considering that the bass is adjustable, it would have made more sense for it to be a couple decibals lower at its minimum. It has a remote.
The seductive smooth but powerful sound pulls you in. It would be great in both kitchen, bedroom, workshop/garage, apartment, or even a patio. I have not had it long enough to comment on long term durability.
Aside from great sound, this Duo-i works with an Ipod and numerous bases are supplied for compatability. Radio reception is good. 10 presets are available.
If I were designing it, I would go with just one speaker for a little more space on the nightstand and include real tube sound somehow, and as mentioned, I would have started at a slightly lower minimum bass setting. This Boston Acoustics Duo-I does actually sound close to tube sound though. There is nothing digital, dry, or edgy in its sound.
However, I have a medium nightstand and it fits fine and the double speakers do sound so very sweet and seductive for its size and price. I don't think Bose has much if anyting on it. This radio/ipod player is not just for teenies. This is high quality sound. I had a smaller Sony Dream machine IPOD tabletop, albeit at half price, which is feeble sounding in comparison with its tiny 2 inch speakers and shallow cabinet which were no match for the 3 1/2 inch high performance speakers and deep cabinet supplied with the Boston Acoustics Duo-I.
Some sellers have this model new discounted at substantial savings. It is well worth its full original price though.

Worth every penny!!!
The Boston Acoustics - Horizon Duo-I is an amazing accessory for the Ipod. If you are in another room, you would think that it is a complete sound system playing. The sound is clear and crisp. It is a pleasure to wake up to music (it does not just blast music when it comes on, it gradually increases in volume). You have the ability to adjust the bass/treble to your liking. I would high recommend this item if you are looking for docking system that thinks music first. It also comes with a remote. 2008-10-13
I like it.
The controls take a minute to get used to, but once you do, it's the shizzle. Sounds great and it's not that big. i use it right next to my head, so I never turn it up loud, but it can crank, if that's what you want. Sounds good at low volume or loud. Excellent quality, which seems hard to find in these days of diminishing technological integrity. 2008-10-13
Perfect Clock Radio for me
I received the unit yesterday. Easy to setup, great sound, and a nice looking unit on the nightstand. It is fairly large, but exudes quality. To my ear, it sounds better than the Bose Wave radio in the other room. Alarms are very easy to set, the snooze feature is perfection:

Boston Acoustics Duo
I purchased this product a couple of months ago and have had nothing but positive results. I initially purchased the solo, which was also impressive, but wanted to have ipod docking capacity. The sound is rich and full, the controls are simple and easy to use, and the look is clean and professional. I would recommend this product and would buy again from Boston Acoustics. 2008-09-29
Very good table top radio. Highly recommended. Top of its Genre.
The sound out of the Boston Acoustics tabletop radio is among the very best I have heard for a table top clock radio. It is not quit as large as the measurements make it seem, which is good as it does still occupy a significant part of my night stand. Just not as much as you would think looking at the measurements. I expected it to be overwhelming, but an extra inch is listed in the measurements that practically isn't there (both Width and Depth) and is not noticable because of trim, etc.
