This is a low-priced, easy to use device.
The school year is just beginning so I can't comment on the reliability.
The copies, scans and the printouts are respectable but not outstanding.
My daughter was thrilled by one feature. She downloaded over 500 pictures from the camera memory to her laptop. It took about half an hour and no problems were encountered.
Overall this is a compact device that does most everything you could want adequately.

I purchased the printer for our home office & to print photos...it was easy to set up & seems to work fine. The only downfall I can see now is that it is a bit slow at printing work documents. But other than that it is being used & we like it.

Printer does NOT use #51 cartridge
Just bought and set this up today, replacing a very similar 3-yr-old Canon that worked well, but had just developed print-head problems. Set up was easy, but I had to run set-up twice because it stopped when it encountered the old version of ScanSoft OmniPage - I had to remove that program manually, then start over (and the second time took longer, about a half-hour for the second un-install and re-install). Printer now works fine. I'm giving a lower rating because of the big disappointment at wasting more than $25 on a high-capacity #51 color cartridge, that does NOT fit this printer. 2008-09-06

Doesn't support Quark Xpress
A word of warning, this is not a postscript printer so Quark Xpress files will not look good printed from it. Colors and photos will be about half their actual value. The only work-around is to make a PDF file and print that. 2008-09-03

It works !!!
Quick, EZ, simple. Printers are my traditional Nemesis. This one is a joy to have. The "User Friendly" programs are superior. 2008-08-28
