Editorial Review:
Keep your nüvi in place with this portable friction mount. It'll keep everything in plain sight when you need it and out of the way when you don't.

I bought this last year when I purchased my Garmin 760 Nuvi. It is a good mount for it on the dash of my truck, except that I added Velcro to the bottom of it because there were times that it slid to easily around on my dashboard. It might be okay in some vehicles as far as being stationary. It just wasn't in my truck at times. I like it much better than the suction-cup mount that came with my Nuvi though. And it is easy enough to remove from the dash and place elsewhere if I need/want to.
I would recommend this product to others.

I'm also not inclined to have mounts or evidence of dashboard electronics be visible from outside the car when I am not in it.
With this friction mount the view is clear, there are no suction cup marks on the windshield, and it's heavy enough to hold the GPS steady through fairly hard turns and the finger-tapping on the screen. The bottom is also textured to grab the dashboard.
When parked, take the GPS with you or hide it, and hide the mount under the seat or back floorboard (if you have tinted windows to keep out prying eyes.)
A BIG bonus for some cars is that using this mount puts the screen on pretty much the same azimuth as (some) dashboard instruments, thus fewer and smaller movements to see or interact with the screen. Smart ergonomics.
I'm not sure why anyone would mount the permanent adhesive "horn" to their dashboard that comes with Garmins and to be fair, the suction-cup mount included with Garmins isn't all bad... it's just on the windshield demanding further reach, etc.
And has been stated many times already, the mount allows for easy transfer to a different vehicle.
This mount is worth every penny in my book.
- Vehicle dash mount for use on any stable surface
- Securely holds your GPS in vehicle
- Does not slide or detach while vehicle is in motion
- Adjustable to position GPS in a variety of angles
- Garmin ball mount easily attaches to your existing cradle
Keep your nüvi in place with this portable friction mount. It'll keep everything in plain sight when you need it and out of the way when you don't.
Place the mount on any stable surface, and adjust the position of your GPS to your liking. The friction mount weighs enough to keep your device put on the dash, even when sudden maneuvers are necessary. It's ideal for states in which the use of windshield suction mounts is illegal.
In addition to its convenience, you can quickly place your GPS out of sight, and without leaving any residue on the windshield, both handy for any potential prying eyes.

friction mount
A little bulky, but it doese a good job at not moving around, and it breaks down so that it can be stored for travel. 2010-03-17

Does not work too well and wears out quickly
The mount wasn't working all that well in the beginning. In sharper turns the mount would slide on the dash. After a year or so it totally lost it's friction properties and even medium fast turn makes it fly off the dash. Garbage. 2010-03-16

A Perfect Solution
The friction mount does exactly what it is supposed to do--it holds the GPS steady on the dashboard without slipping or leaving a mark on the windshield. 2010-03-16

Clear Vision
I detest anything obstructing the view through the windshield, whether it's knickknacks hanging from the rear-view mirror or something suction-cupped to the windshield.
