Editorial Review:
At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book. We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle's page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle's 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly. Whispernet utilizes Amazon's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.

I got the Kindle so that I wouldn't have to worry about finding specific titles anymore and rather than downloading e-books and reading them off the computer, I can save my eyesight by reading them off the Kindle. It's truly an amazing product.
One recommendation though if you are buying a Kindle is that it would be helpful to have some sort of booklight to go with it. I purchased the leather holder for the Kindle and can clip my booklight to the cover easily while I read the Kindle.
I absolutely love this Kindle product!

New features, please!
I got a Kindle 2 for Christmas and really like it, but there are some features I wish it had. First, I wish you could change the screensavers (without a hack) to something you actually care about. Second, I wish there were more ways to sort your books, or to put them in folders, or mark ones that you want to stay near the top of the list. Third, I am trying to buy all my school books on it, and only about 15%-20% of my assigned books are available on Kindle - this has been a significant reason that some of my classmates have not bought Kindles themselves. But I really enjoy reading it, I love the text-to-speech feature, and like that books generally cost less on Kindle! 2010-03-18

Absolutely Amazing!
I recently bought a Kindle because I hsve been living abroad for the last 8 years. Finding English books is not the problem, but if you are looking for specific English books, it can be a bit frustrating.

Kindle
I am not really able to review this product, because it is a birthday present that I haven't given yet. I did want to say that Amazon should have some way of extending the period that a warranty can be purchased when the item bought is a gift. I know my daughter would want to purchase a warranty for her new Kindle, but Amazon would only offer the purchase of the warranty up to 2 weeks after the purchase of the item. This will severly limit using this web site at Christmas time, as you don't have much of a window to purchase a warranty. So I'm not sure if she would rate the product higher, but my rating is for the warranty purchase period. I'm not satisfied with this aspect of the product. 2010-03-18

Not sure yet
At this point, I'm still not sure about this product. For what it does, I think it is fine. But, I think it could be far better at $200 plus. As a student, and there's a lot of us, I see these being an excellent all-in-one device for textbooks, lectures and notes. If someone produces a product that allows me to write notes to its memory as I'm reviewing material or listening to a lecture, transfer text to my notes by highlighting said text, and accepted lecture presentations (power point, pdf, etc) and allowed me to make notes on those lectures, then that would be something I don't think I could resist so long as it had a bigger screen (8.5 x 11)...

3rd Kindle
This is my 3rd Kindle in a year and a half. The 1st 2 (1st generation Kindle) were accidently dropped and broke instantly. Since I do like the Kindle alot (can't do without it) I bought this one. It is thinner and some of the new features are great. No more accidently turned pages! But I do not like the on/off switch. Always have a problem turning it off, takes several tries. The battery does last longer...but no memory card. It's a great tool, and thank Goodness for the insurance!!!! 2010-03-18
