A lot of sound for the money

I haven't owned a "traditional" stereo system for many, many years and am surprised at the depth, clarity and quality of sound this "compact" unit puts out - and at a very reasonable price. I'm not quite sure why it's called compact - it almost completely covers a 3' shelf - would highly recommend it!

CDPlayer quits functioning

Sony MHC-EC55 Mini Stereo was purchased Dec.2007 and was great for about five months. Then the CD player would only play two Cds and recently (August) it has quit playing completely. It reads NO DISC when there are three discs carefully loaded. I am so very disappointed in this player because it is quite large and now is useless. I have tried to contact SONY with no luck. I have a large quantity of CDs and I would love to be able to play them, but I wondering if the life of a CD player is about six months.

great value for the money, good system

The sound on this is much better than a $25 boombox that I used to own, which I returned to WalMart after a BRAND NEW cd I had bought started skipping in it, and the sound is also better than my computer, which, until now, I had thought had good(++) sound...it's definitely not audiophile quality, but if that's what you want, you're gonna have to pay A LOT more for that...($2K MINIMUM!; for the unit, receiver, and the speakers and whatever else you'll need to go along with it...).

Bought this for music at pool.Wow Deep base,Great features.Hook up my ipod to it and i,m good for hours.

Excellent system for a normal person

I bought this system as a gift and recently had the good fortune to use it in its natural setting. The sound quality is great, it's extremely intuitive to use, and you can plug your mp3 player into it. It's really everything I expected from a mini-system like this. I would recommend it to my friends/family if they are looking for this type of stereo.
