The Gluten-Free Pantry Country French Bread Mix, 22-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

That word sums it up, but I'll add two more: bland and bricklike. The nicest thing I can say about this bread is that it has a decent crust when it first comes out of the oven. But seriously, people -- this is not even remotely like true French bread. It's heavy and virtually flavorless. You can do much better. Then again, I have yet to enjoy a gluten-free bread that comes from a mix. I find it nearly as easy and far more satisfying to make my own.

This breadmix is fine and works well in the bread machine or oven. It is a great substitute for regular bread although it takes longer to toast. Flavor is good.

I've made bread every week for over three years from this mix for my grandson who is on a gluten free diet. I'm not a seasoned bread maker, but have altered the instructions to meet his dietary requirements. Originally I purchased this mix from the glutenfree.com website, but now I use Amazon because of the free shipping. However, their website does offer a lot of recipes using their mixes. The best part is that my grandson loves this bread!

When I was introduced to this bread, the person who baked it became my angel. I've tried lots of gluten free breads over the last 10 years. This one allowed me to actually make a sandwich! A rare treat for me. Freeze two pieces at a time and pop out for toast! Awesome!
