After Hurricane Ike intruded on my life, I found several other uses for them. Living 100 mi. inland allows me a pretty good buffer from the wrath of hurricanes. (I went through both Betsy & Camille in New Orleans as a child. I chose to pass on any future front row seats as an adult.) Prior to Ike We'd not had more than 8-12 hrs. of pwr ourage from storms in my neck of the woods. Try two weeks of life without electricity, and we were some of the lucky ones! These lights were light enough to carry around in my pocket so that I always had one handy. Since I have to walk with a cane, carrying a flashlight left me no hands to carry anything else. When I walked outside after dark, they were lifesavers because there were no street lights. On the other hand there were lots and lots of downed trees to avoid as well as cars driving around at speeds that did not allow them to see far enough ahead to avoid hitting me or my dog.
As far as durability, they may be made of plastic, but they survived being dropped no less than once a day. They hit hard enough to knock out the backing & the batteries. They lit up again as soon as I located & replaced the batteries, and there was not a single crack in any of the cases. The only defect was pre-Ike. One of the backs was missing 2 of the raised pieces that enabled it to lock onto the front. This caused only a minor inconvenience as I had to remember to hold the back in place if I chose to use it. The batteries stayed in place without the backing.

Real life savers
Although Fulcrum may not have anticipated this use, they saved my life & sanity in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. When I bought them, I had intended to use them as extra light when doing garden work after dark as well as lights for my closet.

Fulcrum 3 LED tap light review
I guess that you get what you pay for....Some of the lights were broken & they don't put out as much light as you think that they might. 2008-10-10

Fulcrum 3 LED 3-Pack Tap Lights
Fulcrum 4 LED Lights do not give enough light for under cabinet use. If left on for 2-3 days it will kill the batteries. I am Very Dissappointed. 2008-09-23

Pretty nice
I use these for under the cabinet lights, they are really nice but I am thinking that the batteries may be a little expensive (each one takes 3) and I bought 6 lights. 2008-08-03

Just what I needed...
I had wanted under cabinet kitchen lights, but didn't want to go through the expense or trouble of having electric based ones installed. These tap lights were the perfect solution! They give off a pleasing blue tint. Don't buy these lights expecting to light the kitchen on fire. They give off a light that is easy to see in the dark with, but the're definitely better used as mood lights. They are very easy to install, and a simple twist of the silver dome and you can change the batteries leaving the sticky base intact against the cabinet. They are better at sticking under cabinets, as I didn't have much sucess on other types of surfaces. I would advise buying rechargeable batteries and enjoying this simple kitchen upgrade for years to come. 2008-07-15
