The built-in infrared sensor and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Smart-Chip knows when you need to open trash can, and do all the openings and closings for you without touching or step-on anything. No germs on the lid and no odor. Place hand or unwanted debris about 6 inches away from the infrared sensor near the lid. It will open instantly and will close automatically in 5-second after debris has been released and hand moves away. Lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the sensor range. There are two buttons on the front to open and close the lid manually and an on/off switch. Use 4 D sized batteries ONLY, do not work with ac power adaptor. 4.5 Stars, GREAT product

I never knew what we were missing until I broke our old plastic kitchen trash can and we took a chance on this - I was skeptical about getting an "automated / powered" trash can, but we went for it.

Glad we did!!

PROS:
- Lid raises quicker and quieter than I expected
- Fits 13 gallon hefty bags perfect
- Definitely cuts down on odor!
- Never realized how nice it was to not have to touch the kitchen trash can with messy hands while cleaning. Very cool!
- Easy to clean
- Looks nicer than I expected (I was concerned that it would look gawdy in our mostly Earth-tones kitchen)
- No more ugly plastic bags hanging outside the edges of the trash can

CONS:
- I wish the sensor was geared to pick up motion a little further in front of it, but I'm being really picky about that...
- It is a little bit of a pain to put the bags around the plastic insert when your placing it down into the can, but you get better at it with practice (and it is worth it in the end)

BOTTOM LINE:
Great product! We've had it over a month or so and very pleased.

Touchless trash can

I love this trash can. I have two, one for trash and one for recycle. Everyone gets a laugh if they get too close and they automatically open! I've had the first one for three years at least and love it. I am using the same set of batteries that we put in when we got it. For some reason I thought I'd try the AC adapter but can't find a place to attach it so that was a waste of money.

Love this can!

We love this garbage can~easy to use/operate and great size for our kitchen. We'd definitely recommend it.

was fantastic, until it stopped working

I LOVED this garbage can. No mess, no smells, easy to use with your hands full.

Then, it broke, after just a few months. The lid stayed permanently open. We cleaned it, changed batteries, but the lid simply no longer functions.

Yes, it is still under warranty, but we bought for far less than the price here, and it does not seem worth the money and effort to ship the lid back. I have a feeling it would just going to break again. I'd be furious if I paid anything close to what it is listed for now (nearly $100).

Best Ever:)

Was a little hesitant to spend this much on a trashcan but it turned out to be the best purchase! We all love it...love not having to touch the lid to throw things away - very sanitary.
