Customer Reviews:
Duly Impressed
Hi Everyone,

All I can say is wow! I've only been using this product for about a week, and initially didn't bother to read the materials, just basically started doing pus-ups. I found the perfect push-up comfortable and the motion natural, but wasn't overly impressed. At first I thought they felt a bit cheap, and the action wasn't as smooth as the demo floor models at the Costco I bought them at, but I figure those were probably broken in. I just started reading the materials and going through the workouts and now I'm really impressed with how much of a full workout I'm getting. I took their advice to first do as many pushups as I can with good form. I got 26, but didn't feel the last one was really good, so I went for 20 as my starting level. I tried to do the 2 minute drills after that, and my muscles reached failure before I could finish the set. Overall, it feels good though, not like I'm injuring myself. Doing the wide and narrow stances felt kinda bad on my injured shoulders, so I would exercise caution if you use this product with bad shoulders. I think if I'm careful, though, I should do alright.

It's rare for an exercise machine, or an exercise, to make me reach failure so soon. I really don't understand the biomechanics of these instruments. I would have thought that they would make pushups easier NOT harder. And yet, they are both harder and feel better than just doing regular pushups. I feel like I'm using muscles that are normally not worked out by pushups, and overall, I feel like I've done a full upper body workout on multiple machines. So far I highly recommend these. The box I have came with instructions and two, not one, but two DVDs. I can't imagine why I would want to watch them, but I will...maybe I'll learn something... but how many variations of pushups could there be?

Good idea - poor construction - better alternative
With nearly 300 5 star reviews, this might get lost in the shuffle. I don't write many reviews (this is my second), but I know I benefit from insightful reviews and feel strongly about this particular product.

Because of shoulder injuries, I am getting away from heavy bench pressing and going to more body-weight exercises like the pushup. The perfect pushup is really genius in marketing. It is a very good idea and the ads are very slick. My initial impression of the pushup handles was favorable - although most of the visible parts were plastic, they seemed pretty solid. The first time I used them one of the handles started popping and shifting. The rotating base seemed a bit bent, as though the torque from my weight on the wide set of pushups was too much for them (I weigh 166 lbs). That handle no longer turns freely. Perhaps this is just a defective handle - I did consider getting a replacement (although Amazon can't replace it - I would have to do a refund and buy a new set). However, I wonder how durable any of these would be. I will be sending these back, but in the meantime, I have used them a couple of weeks. In spite of the defect they still work for me since I don't rotate my hands anymore:

Pros -

As the ads say - it does increase range of motion
Ability to position or rotate hands to ease stress on joints
Is more challenging than regular pushups
The 2-minute drills are great workouts
Fairly portable

Cons -

Questionable durability
Seem unstable when doing wide pushups

I have now ordered an Atlas Push-up Bar from Easy Effort. I tried to submit this review with a URL for the Atlas Bar, but it was rejected by Amazon so you will have to google it as you cannot get these through Amazon. The Atlas bar is twice as expensive as the perfect pushup, but it is Mig welded, powder coated, and carries a money back and lifetime guarantee. The handles don't rotate, but after a week of using the Perfect Pushup, I stopped rotating my hands anyway. The rotating seems to aggravate my shoulder, so I just let my hands do what they wanted to do during the exercise. My hands naturally seem to move to the positions that the Atlas bar provides at each width.

I will update this review after I get the Atlas bar.

Perfect Pushup...
I have seen other reviews of people afraid since its plastic, let me give you the details on it. Yes each pushup piece is heavy duty plastic, that can hold anyone just about any weight...with ease, so do need be the slightest nervous about it breaking.

As for the techniqe, I agree that having the hands slide 45 degrees would be more natural according to how GOD made our bodies. I realy can't see so much real benefit from being able to push the round part 180' if you do, of course they stay to stop at 90 degrees, but there is no way to stop it then to stain you wrist each time, I am happy for the onces that found it perfect for them. Note: The customer service at this country is fantastic. Good luck with your workouts!! And remember at the end of the day, we all just want to be appreciated, loved and respected, so give it out freely to each other and lets create a better world one person, and one pushup at a time.

More Effective Pushup Workout
I used pushup bars for home workout before I get the perfect pushup. It's a little tough to use at beginning, but after a few days I really like it. I can feel the difference when using the perfect pushup. Muscles in more areas get worked at the same time. That makes the workout gets results more effectively.
