I have been actively trying to install Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 for just over three hours. I have an average amount of internet/computer skills. I consider myself to be intelligent. So take the following for what its worth.
The program is such so that it cannot be installed if there are any other viral security programs on your computer. I uninstalled my Nortan Internet Security via the control panel as instructed. Went to install the Kaspersky and it says I still have Norton. Searched my computer in and out and couldn't find anything. Reboot, check, reboot, check. Empty recycle bin. Nothing. Go to their website and they show me how to manually uninstall the program. Not useful as the program is already gone. Come to find out after researching the Kaspersky website further that there are files in the registry that are telling its installation program that I still have norton. Even when I dont. So they want me to download a 70MB patch. Start the installation of said patch, but then cancel it at a certain point. Then they want me to find the file in the program folders that the patch created. Run an exe. file out of that folder. Problem is, I downloaded the patch. I did what they said to do. There is no file in the program folders. There's a note saying the file would be invisible, that you have to go to my computer>folder options>sell your soul>devour little babies>rip out more hair. Have I mentioned this has taken me over three hours? THREE HOURS. And its still telling me Norton is still installed. And I still have nothing Kaspersky-like installed. Shouldn't they be paying me after all of this for my effort? Frankly, I'll pay a little more money for a product with similar reviews so long as I can insert disk>click install>move on with life. THIS AINT THAT PRODUCT.
Needless to say, 3 hours later and a few handfuls of hair and I have no program installed. Husband tells me he read the reviews, so I thought I'd come here and read for myself. Maybe someone else had a similar problem? To which I find review after review talking about slowed systems, bloatware, etc. Now not only do I have no Internet Security on my computer. But I also have a huge concern with the trustworthiness of my husbands ability to read reviews. ;) Just kidding hun.
Take my advice, pay $10 more for a different program. You'll get an install on your first try and can move on with life in a happy sort of way. That's what I'll do, and I'll forget the name Kaspersky ever existed. Wow, just wow.

I am not very unhappy with KIS 2010, as soon as the license is up I am moving to NAV. Products should get better with age, not worse. That almost killed Norton, but I have to admit their rewite was a good product. I will probably move back to them in another 11 months.

Beyond slowing down ALL processes on PC, want to mention the firewall. Very unhappy. I did not find a way to configure it properly for my home LAN. To set-up zones and give access rights based on IP, etc. Spent days on this, and then just gave up.
Removed, installed my previous firewall, antivirus and ad-aware. Had them on all my home PCs for years and never had issues with performance or bad things... And now I am happy camper again - all processes just flying.
RESUME: Cannot recommend Kaspersky to anyone except housewives... If you get it for free - worth trying. But for money I'd buy something better.

well worth buyint this product
This was easy to install and works well. It is well worth buying it. I used other products in the past and this is by far the best and easiest I have used. 2010-03-20

DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM
My husband bought this program. He said he read the reviews...now I'll add mine own that will hopefully save others from the same waste of time and effort I spent trying to install this program.

Buggy
I upgraded from Kaspersky 2009, which I loved. Ever since I've upgraded to Kaspersky 2010, my PC has been freezing, and I've had to crash my system to get it to work again. While I very much like Kaspersky and would have rated it 5 stars, the fact that it freezes, and based on messages on the forum, this issue is more widespread, I have rated this item as 3 stars. I have opened a ticket with Kaspersky, and I'm awaiting assistance. 2010-03-15

Not what it used to be...
I upgraded from 2009 to 2010. First thing I noticed was my system was running a lot slower. My new laptop came with a 60 day license for Norton AV. Once that ran out I installed from my new 3 pack. I noticed the slowdown right away. My wife complained about her computer also, which we upgraded the same day. And since then it has been getting much slower. I checked the blogs, and this is a common complaint. The validation of web sites is effecting performance and it gets much worse with time. And as soon as you install one license, the timer starts on all 3 licenses. Apparently, KIS hasn't figured out how to validate each machine it is installed on by recording the HD serial no. or NIC id (common knowledge for web developers). Or they just choose not to. In either case you may not get your moneys worth.
I am not very unhappy with KIS 2010, as soon as the license is up I am moving to NAV. Products should get better with age, not worse. That almost killed Norton, but I have to admit their rewite was a good product. I will probably move back to them in another 11 months.

Not a good product for your money
Probably protection is good, but had no chance to really find out - I had to remove Kaspersky after 3 months of pain with one huge issue (takes a lot of resources and slows down web-browsing dramatically) and many, many tiny issues... My new, most advanced PC with Kaspersky on it worked slower than my 7- years old one under other protections.
Beyond slowing down ALL processes on PC, want to mention the firewall. Very unhappy. I did not find a way to configure it properly for my home LAN. To set-up zones and give access rights based on IP, etc. Spent days on this, and then just gave up.
