Many accessories are available for Klean Kanteens. All caps and lids are interchangable with all sizes of Klean Kanteens and we only use non-leaching Polypropylene #5 (PP#5) in our caps and lids. Both the loop and flat caps have stainless steel bases to prevent plastic from coming in contact with your beverage.
The sports cap work very well. It doesn't change the taste of the water at all. It comes with a protector cap that is attached on the side of the plastic cap. Though, it takes a little getting used to placing one's mouth "around" the protective cap in order to drink from it. But don't let that keep you from buying it. It turns out that it's really handy to have while driving in the car. Before I had to unscrew the original top and temporarily set it aside. But now with the sports cap, I don't have to worry about it. And I only need to use one hand to do it.
My only "complaint" (though I guess I can't really call it that) is that I learned the hard way that it is necessary to push down ALL THE WAY on the sports cap when closing it. Otherwise, water WILL LEAK from the sides. Nevertheless, when done properly, it won't allow nary a drop from escaping.
My verdict: a definite buy, but experiment with it first to get used to closing it properly before filling with water, or any other type of liquid.

Just OK
I bought this top so that my son could bring a small "Klean Kanteen" to lunch and drink his milk w/o spilling. The top is just OK, it is difficult to open and close (difficult for a 4-tear old anyway). I still like the idea of the Klean Kanteen but I feel the sport top could be better. 2008-10-01
Nice trade off for biking
I bought the bottle with the screw top. It's nice to have the alternative (squirt top) for biking. And it gives me a chance to give the other a good cleaning soak in water and vinegar. 2008-09-30
Perfect topper for a perfect bottle
Perfect lid for a perfect bottle. I carry my bottle in my back pocket all day at work and the sport top is easy to open and grab a drink and close up quickly. Great product and great company. Recommended highly.

Confused about plastic sports cap. Marked #1 inside not #5
I was surprised to see that the number inside was #1 plastic not #5 plastic like advertised. I will contact Amazon to verify. It is annoying. 2008-09-25
Very good alternative to stock cap
At first I was reluctant to purchase a "sports cap" for my Klean Kanteen because I wanted to take advantage of the larger opening when drinking water. However, after my wife convinced me to purchase extra caps, I'm glad I did.
