Well Worth reading
Waiting for Summers return was a wonderful and intriguing story. I loved the plot of this book. It was different then other stories I have read bout the West. I learned new things about the Mennonites in this book. The character of Summer was someone I wanted to get to know. I felt her pain, and her joy. I wanted her to succeed and fall in love. I also enjoyed that Peter was not a normal. Handsome man. He had his own things that make him special. This is a book that I am keeping and putting on my must read again list. I can't wait to read the sequel and learn more about Thomas and his schooling. I am also looking forward to reading more stories by this author. 2008-11-07

Sweet but Uneventful
This is the first book I've read by Sawyer. I was encouraged by the many positive reviews. I particularly like historical fiction and Christian romance and have read lots of books of this genre. I found this book sweet, but uneventful. It wasn't as predictable as some I have read, but it wasn't very exciting either. Usually, after the first chapter I can tell whether I will enjoy the read. By page 150 I was still hoping something intriguing would happen. It never really did. Its a "nice" book, but definitely not a page turner. I recommend books by Sharlene MacLaren. 2008-10-16

Very sweet story
This was a very good book about the way God can STILL work wonders, even in small ways. However, if you have ever read Janette Oak's book, "Love Come Softly", you already have a GREAT idea of how this story will come out. "Waiting for Summer's Return" & "Love Comes Softly" have ALMOST the exact same plot. There isn't much difference. But it is still a great book & I would recommend it wholeheartedly! 2008-10-06

An Awesome Debut Novel
This is the first book I've read by Kim V. Sawyer, but it's not the last. I'm working on the sequel now and have read another of hers between. Kim's writing style is incredibly fluid, smooth, entertaining and believable, all at the same time. I enjoy a good story, but the most important element in any type of fiction (for me) is the characters. If they become real to me as I move through the story, and stay with me after it's done, the author has done their job. Summer, Peter and Thomas blossomed into very real people, gaining my sympathy right from the start. Thank you, Kim, for a lovely story and heartwarming characters. Job well done! 2008-10-05

A Gentle Prairie Miracle of Love
Summer is a young woman who has just buried her husband and four precious children. Alone and heartbroken, she takes a temporary job teaching in a home. She is not welcomed by the grandmother. The townspeople are Mennonite and do not want an outsider to reside in their town. Summer turns to God and to the only few friends she manages to make, and finds that God is, indeed, the God of second chances. 2008-08-27
