These certainly stay on. In fact, they stay on so well that it creates a problem. These work very well on snow and ice, but they're dangerously slippery indoors, especially on linoleum.
Since they're so hard to remove, my mother has decided that they're part of the shoe, and she carries an extra pair of slippers that she changes to as soon as she steps through the door. With the previous ones, she'd slip them off the shoe and put them in her jacket pocket.
These are much better suited to heavy and consistent use rather than occaisional emergencies.

Yaktrax's are the best
Yaktrax's are unbeatable. They give the greatest traction in all icy conditions. I run a high mountain camp and have tried many ice traction devises. In icy conditions, CAUTION, is always the most important factor, no matter what the devise. In walking indoors all devises can be hazardous, it depends on the care you use while walking. My staff and I have used Yaktrax's for years. For inside staff, regular Yaktrax's are the best. They put them on to walk from their cabin or car to the office and pop them off once inside. For my outside staff, the Yaktrax Pro's can't be beat. They are rugged and don't ware out. The strap over the front of the boot keeps them in place in most situations. When coming inside it is best and easiest to slip the boots off and to step into indoor shoes. For long Life - take a little time - when putting "Trax's" on, make sure they slip into the grooves in the soles of the boots and if the end of a spring starts to catch, use a pair of pliers to squeeze it back into place. The Yaktrax Pro's I have on now have lasted me for three years and counting. 2008-10-26

Yaktrax on hiking to Camp Muir at Mt Rainier
I bought these spring based traction enhancers to help us hike to Camp Muir at Mt. Rainier. While these are not for serious climbers like those with deep spikes, my wife and I found them quite helpful. While it is possible to slip somewhat, the slide was constrained. This turned out to be of great benefit when coming down the mountain. Yaktrax are more for urban use on icy sidewalks. One great benefit is these fold up very small for packing. We are glad we bought them. I have never used a set of deep spiked clampons but found these adequate for non technical hiking. 2008-09-30

Great outdoors, hazardous indoors
I bought these for my mother. She wore out one set of the less expensive model, and lost one of the second set. The less expensive models don't stay on the shoes as well, so we bought these to compare.

A dog walker's winter dream
This is my second pair of Yaktrax. I love the Pro style. The velcro strap keeps them on your boots. I lost one of the regular Yaktrax and didn't even know it until it was too late. The Yaktrax are essential on icy walks to keep you from slip slidin' away--especially it you're being towed along by a dog or two. 2008-03-27

Such a great invention!
These YakTrax make a HUGE difference when walking in snow and ice. I'm on crutches after hip surgery and have been able to trust my recovery to them when I am out crutching about on all the snow & ice this winter! 2008-03-10
